Google reports the deployment of an updated weather forecasting model, WeatherNext 3. According to the company, it should improve accuracy, especially in forecasting rain and snowfall.

The company states that the model creates a global weather picture with five times higher resolution than Google's previous system. Real-time weather observations are used to train the model.

The practical significance of the update is currently limited to Google's own statement: the available material lacks an independent comparison of forecast quality, measurement methodologies, or details on where exactly the model is already being applied.
