Anthropic presented sandbox-runtime — an open OS-level isolation tool linked to Claude Code. According to MarkTechPost, it restricts access of AI agents, MCP servers, and CLI tools to files and networks.

For macOS the solution uses Seatbelt, and for Linux — bubblewrap; containers are not required for operation. This allows separating tool actions from the rest of the runtime environment via system mechanisms.

Practical significance depends on how fully these restrictions cover real agent operation scenarios and how easily they can be applied across different systems. The original package does not include details about tests, access-policy architecture, or security incidents.
