From 2027 year, UBS plans to make AI skills a mandatory qualification for graduates and interns applying for positions in the Global Banking and Markets division. At interviews, candidates will be required to show how they use AI to improve results and efficiency.

A similar demand is already being formulated by Santander: the bank is seeking specialists with advanced AI skills. Meanwhile, Morgan Stanley predicts the disappearance of more than 200 000 banking jobs in Europe within five years.

The data is based on The Decoder synopsis, not the full text of UBS's primary statement. Therefore it is not yet clear which tools and evaluation standards will be used and whether the requirement will apply to other areas of the bank.
